People from around the world visit the Appalachian Trail to connect with nature, escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and many other reasons. Some determined hikers attempt to complete a thru-hike, which is a bucket list goal to walk the entire 2,190-mile footpath within a single year. Others simply want to hike a portion of the trail to further satisfy their wanderlust and deepen their hiking experience.

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is the guardian and advocate of the AT, partnering with the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and several other state and local agencies. Their mission is to preserve and manage the trail, ensuring its natural beauty and cultural heritage can be shared with visitors for years to come. The ATC was established in 1925 and prepares and educates millions of visitors each year as they explore the Appalachian Trail.

At The Appy Lodge, we are proud to be among the Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s list of supporters, along with thousands of individual supporters across all 50 states, as well as over 15 countries. If you are interested in learning more about the ATC, please ask our staff at the front desk or contact us for more details.
