For nearly 50 years, this acclaimed bakery has been serving up mouth-watering cinnamon bread, puff pastries, danishes, eclairs, and, of course, donuts. The Donut Friar opens at 5:00 a.m. each morning, so early risers can start their day with something sweet.

2. Best Gift Idea Ever

Best Gift Idea Ever (BGIE) is a one-of-a-kind shop that specializes in letter art, “photographing everyday items to find natural letters within the image.” For instance, the sail on a boat may look like the letter “A” or a cross on a church may represent a “T.” Visitors at BGIE can mix and match these letter photographs to spell out their own messages or choose from a variety of premade designs.

4. The Cheese Cupboard

The Cheese Cupboard offers delicacies from the Old World right in the Smokies! Guests at the Cupboard will find an excellent selection of imported and domestic cheeses, gourmet mustards, old-fashioned Kosher dill pickles, and chocolates from Switzerland and Germany. Above The Cheese Cupboard is Hofbrauhaus Restaurant, a German-style sandwich shop that is famous for its Super Reuben.

5. The Day Hiker

If you’re planning on exploring the Great Smoky Mountains National Park during your vacation, be sure to swing by The Day Hiker before your adventure. This great shop stocks everything you need for a hike in the mountains, including maps, trail guides, hats, backpacks, hiking staffs, trekking poles, and so much more.
