Sun Records was founded in 1952 by Sam Phillips, eventually evolving into an iconic place in the history of music that played a pivotal role in shaping rock music!
Sun Records began in Memphis, Tennessee where it gained notoriety for producing groundbreaking artists that would become legendary figures in the music industry. Sun Records’ first big hit came in 1954 when a young Elvis Presley recorded “That’s All Right”. Presley’s fusion of the blues, country and R&B with songs like “Blue Moon of Kentucky” and “Mystery Train” served as a turning point in popular music, elevating Presley into a star and solidifying Sun Records’ reputation as a hub for groundbreaking music!
